With more than 90 stores nationally, Adairs is recognised as Australia’s leading retailer of manchester and homewares. Today, the business comprises six retail formats including Adairs, Adairs Homemaker, Adairs Outlet, Adairs Online, Adairs Kids and Urban Home Republic stores.

As the business has grown, so to has its product range - now extending beyond traditional bed linen and bath towels to gift ideas, home furnishings and even nursery accessories, children’s toys and furniture.

Adairs has a long and proud history, first commencing trading in Chapel Street, Prahran, Victoria in 1918. Adairs later became established as a mini department store in Camberwell, stocking manchester, curtains, ladies wear and haberdashery until 1980.

In 1981 the first of today’s chain outlets was opened in Doncaster Shoppingtown. The success of this format saw the opening of another 4 stores in 1984. These were the Brandon Park, Chadstone, Frankston and Northland outlets.

In November 2007 Adairs was acquired by BB Retail Capital (BBRC) in partnership with the company’s existing executive management team and is now known as the Adairs Retail Group (ARG). Prior to this date Adairs was majority owned by the MacLean family for more than 21 years.
