Hathi established itself in the spring of 1989 in the charming historical precinct of The Rocks, NSW. From the shop front path way, one can see views of Sydney's iconic landscape including the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and wharves that stretch into one of the most beautiful harbour cities of the world today.



Hathi's genesis was to curate and sell handcrafted jewellery by local artists alongside unique and antique jewellery from different corners of the world. Hathi wanted to make exclusive contemporary jewellery into something wearable, feminine, and in particular accessible.



Since it's inception, the owner Colin Jacobus has remained a constant in the Hathi story. Over the last 20 years, Colin has provided an anchor point from which to develop and maintain long standing relationships with a number of jewellers and return customers alike from Australia and around the world. Because of the hand-crafted nature of the jewellery, Hathi knows the importance of crafting personal relationships with any customer who visits the store. Colin was later joined by his wife, Kana Jacobus, a talented designer of high credential who brought a new range of Jewellery to Hathi with her exclusive custom designs using fresh water pearls and glass beads.
